Wrist Tattoos – Hide Them or Flaunt Them?
Wrist tattoos are fast becoming a favorite among tattoo enthusiasts. They are perfect if you want a tattoo that you can display during occasions such as parties, or conceal in venues such as the church or the office. Although wrist tattoos are pretty small, nothing’s stopping you from expressing your creativity with this type of tattoo. There are a lot of tattoo designs that you can choose from, and you can even come up with your own.
Wrist tattoos come in three types, namely upper wrist tattoos, inside wrist tattoos, and wrapararound wrist tattoos. Let’s explore these three types of wrist tattoos so you can decide for yourself which one would be right for you.
Upper wrist tattoos
The upper wrist is one of the body parts where a tattoo would be most visible. This is aside from the face and the hand. Upper wrist tattoos are more popular among men, as it can be the starting point for a sleeve tattoo should the latter be desired at a later time.
In general, tattooing on fleshy parts of the body results in less pain than tattooing on areas where there is a thin layer of skin. With upper wrist tattoos, it becomes especially painful when the needle goes through the wrist bone. It may also be difficult to hide this type of tattoo
Inner wrist tattoos
This type of wrist tattoo is more popular among women, as it’s easier to hide. Meaningful phrases or words are usually placed on wrist tattoos, giving a vulnerable and sentimental feel to them.
Just as with upper wrist tattoos, inner wrist tattoos can also be more painful than tattoos on other body parts. Moreover, this part is moved a lot, which can result in the blotting and blurring of the ink. Wrist tattoos of this kind would then usually need a lot of retouches.
Wraparaound wrist tattoos
These look like bracelets and are probably conceived from the idea of armband tattoos. Again, you can have all sorts of designs for this type of wrist tattoo.
Although wrist tattoos are more painful than tattoos on other parts of the body, the pain usually “subsides” after a while and should then be tolerable. However, one thing you should consider with wrist tattoos is that there are bound to be events or occasions in the future that would require you to hide it. Just make sure you have a plan for such instances. This way, you can truly enjoy your wrist tattoo and not be bogged down by unnecessary problems.
